Loving the Reel Mower

Scotts Reel Mower, why do I love thee? Let me count the reasons:
You are quiet, so quiet I can mow even in the wee small hours of Saturday morning.
You are so, so easy to push, that even if I mow in the middle of the day, the neighbors won't stop and stare. If they do it is because of the simpleness and beauty of your frame.
You were ever so inexpensive and will continue to be since we won't have to fill you up-ever.
You take up such a small amount of space.
You never stink and you certainly don't leak.
You make me like mowing!

Maybe that's what I need.

We used to have one of those when I was a kid, I thought it was fun to use. But make sure you wear heavy gloves when pushing it, it can give mean calouses!

Lisa, no calluses here! I'm not expecting any. Its not like the old ones--its much easier to push. Of course we don't have any hills to mow and Kathy I failed to mention that we only have about 700 square feet on grass (until we put grass in the backyard, which is also very flat). I'd stick with the riding lawnmower if I were you.

so do you do most of the mowing?

Wow! Thanks for the tip. Do you mow every week? Is it easy enough to have Model #1 mow?

Jamie! You are amazing!! I love your blog. It always makes me smile. I'm so glad to know you.

Tralina, so far model #1 likes mowing but usually I beat him to it. I should get a picture of him pushing it. He gets inside it when it gets hard and pushes from the bottom. It doesn't seem hard to push to me but maybe it is for him, where the grass is the bushiest.

Way to help out the environment and get some exercise too! I remember our Texas lot was about the same. Somedays I really miss that. Our "nature" is quite overwhelming to me until I see everything grow in and then I can't see all that needs to be done!

Very cool! My husband keeps talking about getting one of those so he can get extra exercise. I just wonder how long it would take to mow. Hmmm, we'll see....

My Dad only had a pushmower for the first many years of my life. In fact, he kept it around for a long time. Whenever the other motorized lawnmowers broke, he had the old reliable to use. I loved pushing it, but it was a workout. I wish I could use one now, but with over an acre to mow, I now have a riding lawnmower.

By the way, I took your cleaning challenge and owe you a thank you. I was cleaning out from under my sink, it wasn't too messy, just cluttered and discovered that there was a pool of water. In researching how the water was getting there, I discovered that our faucet was broken. We had to replace it. Now the cupboard is organized, clean and I have a new fantastic, faucet to help me with my everyday chores. You rock!

I used one when I was little, but I think it just pushed the long grass down LOL! Jk! Very cool you like to mow with one... ;o)

Hmmm...don't know if we'll go that far but we DO have an electric mower. Now that we have a massive lawn it drives spencer crazy to have to hold onto and move the cord every row. So glad that's not my job!

Oooh, I want one. But is it really that quiet? My neighbor's makes a terrible metal-on-metal screeching noise.

Off the subject, I had a dream last night you were expecting number 5. I'll be eagerly awaiting the official announcment ;)
